ONE PERSON CRYING
WOMEN AND WAR
This global documentary project, initiated by Marissa Roth in 1984, spans four decades of her photography to date, and addresses how women in numerous countries and cultures have been directly affected by war and its aftermath. In addition to the photographs, which include portraits and images of ancillary themes as they relate to the locale of that particular war, Roth interviewed most of her subjects.
One Person Crying: Women and War is currently a global travelling exhibition, which debuted at The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles in 2012. A book of this work is forthcoming and will encompass Roth’s photographs, interview texts and a personal narrative about her odyssey as a photographer working on this multi-decade project.
