ONE PERSON CRYING
CREATIVE VISIONS FOUNDATION
Creative Visions Foundation is a Fiscal Sponsor that Marissa Roth has worked with over the years. They are now supporting One Person Crying as a trilogy of interconnected initiatives inspired by Roth’s multi-decade global photographic project, One Person Crying: Women and War. Their mission statement: “Creative Visions empowers creative activists to raise awareness of critical issues and drive positive change through impact storytelling – one of the most powerful tools we have for creating change in the world.”
This supports Roth’s early and on-going commitment to this subject, which was inspired by her own family's war history and born out of her recognition that the women’s side of the war story was an underreported perspective on war. She feels that this continues to be an important, timely and relevant subject and believes that through the telling and re-telling of stories through her compelling photographs and first-person interviews with these survivors, it will engender more awareness.
In addition to the on-going photographic project and international travelling exhibition of these photographs which debuted at The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles in 2012, a documentary series based on it, The Peace Photographer, is currently being developed. Additionally, Roth is aiming to establish a community of these women from around the world through the creation of an on-line database where women war survivors can share their first-person stories, while building an important archive.
